On (very cold) Sunday, five South West Sydney girls set out to face our fears, conquer the unthinkable and compete in the Tough Bloke Chick Challenge at Cataract Scout Park in Appin. We were off to a rocky start when Cora sent out a cry for help as she didn't think she'd be able to make it. However, in true South West supportive style, I set out to pick her up! There was no way we were leaving a woman behind before we'd even started.
We arrived at the venue full of nerves, excitement, apprehension, fear etc... but that was all forgotten when we set off on a challenge we will probably never forget. We tried to avoid the mud for the first few kilometres as much as possible which was all in vain. It got to a point where we just couldn't avoid the mud anymore so, we just embraced it. After all, mud is meant to be great for the skin, right?
It was a great day with a great bunch of girls. We helped each other out, encouraged each other when we thought we couldn't do an obstacle or couldn't run anymore and most importantly had fun! Davina rolled her ankle and I face planted into the gravel but we still managed to finish the course in under 2 hours! We are all sporting nice battle scars but it's just proof of how tough we really are :)
I had such a great day that I signed up the very next day to do the Valley Stampede in November. We already have a good group of SWSYD crew (and friends) together but we want more people! If you're thinking of signing up, stop thinking and JFDI! I promise you will not have more fun or feel more challenged.
Lastly, for those who haven't already seen this, it's a video I put together of the awesome day we had.
Until next time,
Danni
